Police arraign applicant for allegedly stealing 53 cartons of tiles, 2 Italian doors


The police on Thursday arraigned an applicant, Chigozie Jude, in a Wuse Zone II Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing 53 cartons of tiles and two Italian doors worth N150,000.


The defendant, 30, of Suleja Niger State is charged with theft.


The Prosecutor, Mr O. Udure, told the court that the case was reported on Jan. 7, at Wuye Police Station by one Yakubu Paul of Maitama Extension Mpape road, Abuja.


Udure, alleged that the defendant sold the items to a scavenger (name unknown) who is now at large.


The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Sections 287 of the Penal Code.



The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.


Chief Magistrate Njideka Duru admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100, 000 with one surety in like sum.


The magistrate ordered that the surety must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and adjourned the case until April 24, for hearing.
