Three commissioners of police deployed for elections in Ogun


The Police authorities have deployed three Commissioners of Police in Ogun state to ensure peaceful elections.

The Police have also cleared the air over the rumoured removal of the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, saying, he remains the Commissioner of Police.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of elections duties, Jubril Yakubu disclosed this on Thursday during a meeting with stakeholders in Ogun state held at the Police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta.

Yakubu disclosed that former commissioner of Police in Ogun, Fimihan Adeoye; Gbenga Adeyanju from Ondo and Yemi Agunbiade have been deployed in the state.

The DIG who was flanked by Iliyasu and Adeyanju said, the Police are ready for the elections.

Yakubu said the deployment of three additional Commissioners of Police in the state was to ensure free and fair elections in the state.



He said Adeoye would be in charge of Ogun West; Agunbiade to monitor Ogun East while Adeyanju will be in charge of Ogun Central.

He said the three Senatorial districts will be manned by the newly deployed commissioners of Police.

He assured the people of the state of security of lives and property, urging them to come out for the elections .
