Rivers election: Gov. Wike reveals Amaechi’s alleged affairs with army officers’ wives

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has alleged that the unsolicited defence of the General Officer Commanding, GOC, 6 Division of the Nigerian Army by a former Governor of the State, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi may not be unconnected to his alleged ”amorous links to the wives of army officers.”

Speaking on the attempt by Amaechi to make nonsense of the weighty assassination attempt against him, (Wike) the Governor said it is unfortunate that the Minister made himself the spokesperson of the GOC.

Governor Wike, who addressed a press conference in Port Harcourt on Friday, ahead of Saturday’s election, accused his predecessor of having affairs with wives of army officers.

Wike said, “It is unfortunate that the Minister of Transportation has become the spokesman of the GOC 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Major General Jamil Sarham.

“I hope his defence of the GOC has no relationship with the wives of the officers because we know him. When he starts defending like this, we hope his eyes are not looking into the homes of the officers.

“Amaechi should defend himself on the weighty allegations made against him by Senator Magnus Abe.

“Amaechi should react to these issues raised by Senator Magnus Abe instead of defending the Nigerian Army.

“It is unfortunate that Amaechi has no shame.”

Wike recalled that on February 12, 2019, Amaechi had, at the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, claimed that the Former Brigade Commander planned to arrest him in 2015 and thereafter sang Igbo war song in preparation for this unfortunate unholy alliance with the GOC.

Wike said Amaechi should allow the Nigerian Army to defend themselves on the matter.
