Just when Nigerians were getting
set for the presidential and national assembly elections, the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) went into an emergency meeting.
The leadership of the commission
summoned stakeholders to the meeting over logistics challenges on the eve of
the elections.
In some states, materials had not
arrived as of 9pm. The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused
the commission of acting the script of the ruling All Progressives Congress
(APC) and Nigerians are also commenting on social media.
If your headline says “INEC postpones” your content shouldn’t be saying “this is not yet official.” That’s nonsense!— JJ. Omojuwa (@Omojuwa) February 15, 2019
Highly placed source in INEC just debunked the postponement. Why is the media intent on burning this country down?!— Daddy D.O🇳🇬 (@DOlusegun) February 15, 2019
1-Any postponement of the election scheduled to hold tomorrow is a #CoupAgainstNigeria and slap in the face of Nigerians, given that the government had enough time and money to prepare for the elections. If they postpone, don’t respond violently. Be patient to vote against them.— Reno Omokri (@renoomokri) February 15, 2019
It will be a major let down, a monumental embarrassment if the election slated for tomorrow faces any hitch. INEC has no excuse whatsoever. Nothing should happen that can cast any shadow of doubt on the credibility of the process. We need to give a good account of ourselves.— HENRY Okelue (@4eyedmonk) February 15, 2019
INEC had 4 years to plan for this election. Why is Nigeria so dysfunctional?— Dr. Dípò | The Career🔌 (@OgbeniDipo) February 15, 2019

Nigerians are ready to vote tomorrow Feb 16!
We say NO to postponement. We want to vote tomorrow!
If you agree, please share.
Dear INEC,— QueenEsther Iroanusi (@QueenExtha) February 15, 2019
Please don't be unfortunate. I repeat, do not be unfortunate!
INEC @inecnigeria shouldn't dare postpone this election...— Buhari's sister🇳🇬 (@DaminaboEric) February 15, 2019
Nigerians are waiting for PDP at the polling units as we speak.
Please INEC should address Nigerians let me know if i am checking out from this hotel— solomon anekwe (@solomongogo) February 15, 2019
NO OFFICIAL POSTPONEMENT FROM INEC! PLEASE DISREGARD ANY CONTRARY NEWS...#NigeriaDecides— #NigeriaDecides2019 (@NigeriaDecides4) February 15, 2019
SR, what sort of nonsense is this? INEC Postpones...INEC has not yet... Sahara understands... This is disappointing. Don't report until you have the freaking facts! Even if they eventually do it, this manner of reporting still wouldn't be justified. https://t.co/ekuE5BGl3D— Pius Adesanmi (@pius_adesanmi) February 15, 2019
We call on Inec @inecnigeria to come out straight and tell us if the election is truly postponed or they should issue a disclaimer immediately.
