#Nigeriadecides2019 - Nigerians lament delay in arrival of INEC officials



Several Nigerians on social media have been posting pictures, lamenting the non-arrival of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The topic #NoINEC, has received thousands of tweets within minutes.

They lamented that as of 8.30am, most of the INEC officials had failed to arrive.

A Twitter user, Senator Saheed, who posted a photo of his polling unit located at Federal Housing Authority Gate, Lugbe, wrote, “Over 1,000 voters in the queue and yet no INEC officials have arrived as of 8.15am.”

Udeh Adole, who tweeted from Benue said, “It is 8.04am at my polling unit, Ella Market. No security. Voters hanging around.

Oladapo Olowo, in Lagos, wrote, “NoINEC staff at Cobham junction polling unit in Ajao Estate off Airport Road, Lagos.”



Aggrieved voters at Uzzi Primary school booth 003, Saturday lampooned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the delay in the arrival of voting materials.

As at 8.40am INEC officials yet to be seen, while furious voters alleged that the delay was a deliberate ploy to disenfranchise the electorates.

One of the voters, Micheal Chibuzor, told NigerianEye that, “we have been here since 7am and up till now we have not seen any INEC Staff, this is too bad that after waiting for extra one week”.

According to INEC, accreditation which takes place simultaneously with voting, ought to begin by 8am while 2pm is the deadline for the arrival of the last voter.
