Gombe PDP campaign DG’s name appears as DPP gov’ship candidate

The name of Director General of the Peoples Democratic Party Campaign Council in Gombe State, Alhaji Bala Bello Tinka has appeared in a final list of gubernatorial candidates released by INEC on Thursday.

Our correspondent report that Tinka who contested for the governorship ticket against the PDP’s candidate, Usman Bayero Nafada, was made the campaign DG last December to lead the party’s 2019 campaign in the state.

However, in what came as a surprise to his party, Tinka’s name appeared as gubernatorial candidate of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) in the list released by INEC.

But in a swift reaction, the state Chairman of the party, Barrister Joel Adams Jagafa, said the party has relieved Tinka of his appointment as DG of its 2019 campaign council.

He said following the appearance of Tinka’s name as gubernatorial candidate of DPP, he was relieved from his position as DG of their campaign council.

Our correspondent gathered that Tinka picks the DPP’s ticket following an earlier arrangement to be backed by a chieftain of an opposition party in the state to contest for the governorship seat, which he later aborted.

Daily Trust learnt that Bala Tinka will be formally accepted into the APC by President Muhammadu Buhari and other leaders of the party during the party’s presidential campaign to be held on Saturday (tomorrow) in Gombe.
