Convener of Concerned Nigerians,
Deji Adeyanju has been released on bail by a Kano State Magistrate Court.
Former minister of Aviation, Femi
Fani-Kayode confirmed that the activist was granted bail in the sum of N500,000
and two sureties.
The court also ordered him to
deposit his international passport.
Fani- Kayode on his Twitter page
wrote: “Great news that Adeyanju Deji has been granted bail after spending over
60 days in a Kano prison simply because he spoke truth to power. We give thanks
to God. I am so proud of this deeply courageous and inspiring young man. Head
bloodied but not bowed!
Adeyanju had spent 63 days in
prison before his release was granted on Monday.
He was remanded in a Kano prison
after he was rearrested and charged for culpable homicide by the Nigeria Police
Force.
Deji was arrested over a case
said to have been decided upon by the Kano State High Court in 2009.
