The National Chairman of the
Peoples Democratic Party, Uche Secondus, has warned that any one who has
intention of rigging the 2019 elections in Akwa Ibom State risks losing his/her
life.
Secondus stated this on Monday
during a campaign tour of the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, which
was held at the GodswillI Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo Akwa Ibom State.
According to Secondus, “I want to
warn those of our friends are in Abuja, who are from this state, who only believe
that elections in Akwa Ibom must be rigged, to have a rethink.
“If you rig elections in Akwa
Ibom, you will risk your head.”
He wondered why the opposition
APC would rear its head in Akwa Ibom, a state adjudged to be PDP, noting that
in other civilized nations, any state known to be fully occupied by a political
party, the other party will not try to go there.
The Chairman urged Akwa Ibom
people to join hands to vote out APC led federal government, which he described
as being economically battered and threat to democracy.
His words, “Our dear country is
in distress and the whole world is aware. The economy is torn and collapsed,
security is porous, people are being killed everyday, hunger and intimidation
of the judiciary have become the order of the day.
“We can no longer keep quiet and
silent. All the actions of Buhari are threat to democracy. They are dangerous
to the existent of this country and democracy.
“Our country is passing through
trying period. As we speak, the NJC, all the civil society groups are meeting
to deliberate on the illegal actions of the president, a president who does not
care about the constitution. He wants to be the chief Judge of Nigeria, he
wants to be the Senate President and to be the speaker of the House of
representatives.”
He also argued the rationale
behind the sack of the CJN, Justice Walter Onnoghen, by President Buhari saying
that the president has no powers to fire the CJN.
“Our constitution provides
separation of powers which the president has refused to respect. He cannot fire
the Chief justice of Nigeria. We want him to reverse all the irreversible, if
he refuses, God will reverse him and something must happen,” he said.
