Nigeria’s Deputy Senate
President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu was Tuesday booed by protesting members of
the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN, in the National
Assembly.
Immediately the DSP entered the
lobby through the back entrance, protesters encircled him and his security
details as they shouted: “no sitting, no plenary, go and bring us our
allowance.”
Effort by the deputy senate
president to address the protesters amid the huge noise did not yield positive
result.
The shouts of no sitting
apparently discomforted him, even as the entrance to the gallery was blocked,
making him leave for his office.
That is right. Those who call themselves parliamentarians who do not think about the welfare of others as if Nigeria belong to them and their families alone.Shame on them dishonorable men and women of parliament.
