Sultan of Sokoto cries out, says things not right in Nigeria

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Abubakar III, on Tuesday lamented that things are not okay in Nigeria.

The monarch said the situation of insecurity, kidnapping, killings “everywhere” was an indication that everything was not okay in the country.

He made the remark at a one-day Dialogue on Democratic Stability and National Security, organized by the Alumni Association of the National Institute, AANI.

Abubakar stressed that as the 2019 elections drew closer, things will get worse because politicians will take advantage of the situation.

He also lamented that youths were killing themselves due to lack of education and employment.

Abubakar said, “We have to admit that if things were right in Nigeria we would not have all these security issues, kidnappings and killings everywhere.

“As we inch closer to elections, it is going to get worse, because politicians use this, so we have to be very careful what we say.

“When you see children going about killing themselves and burning houses, check their background, it’s either they did not go to school or they are not employed.”
