Libya head coach resigns days before 2019 AFCON qualifier against Nigeria

Libya head coach, Adel Amrouche, has resigned from his position, four days before his side travels to play Nigeria in a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) said earlier, that there had been a request by players and some of the management’s personnel lodged at the LFF, to meet and discuss the possibility of sacking Amrouche for his “random coaching”, the Libya Observer reports.

Adel was only appointed in May.

The Libyan FA has now threatened to sue him for absconding duty.

In a statement, the FA reveals Adel Amrouche left the team’s training base in Tunisia on Tuesday, October 9.

Omar Al Marmi replaces him as the coach.

Libya plays the Super Eagles on Saturday, October 12.
