The former England star claimed Messi’s decision making is better than anyone else currently playing.
Messi scored a brace for Barcelona against Tottenham last night and Ferdinand said he was blessed to watch Messi in the match.
Barcelona beat Tottenham 4-2 at Wembley in the Champions League Group B clash.
After scoring a hat-trick in the group opener against PSV Eindhoven two weeks ago, Lionel Messi added a brace to take his tally to five goals in two games in the competition already.
Messi could have scored more, hitting Hugo Lloris’ right-hand post twice in quick succession in the second half.
“We can talk about Tottenham and their efforts later on, but you have to marvel at this guy here,” Ferdinand said on BT Sport.
“I feel blessed that I was in this stadium live to be able to watch him.
“I’ll tell my kids about it tomorrow on the school run.
“This guy, what he does on the football pitch, is just ridiculous.
“It’s like he’s got a remote control in his hand, assesses the situation, and says ‘yeah, right, let me just plot the location and I’ll put the ball exactly where I want to put it, on a sixpence’.
“His weight of pass, his decision making is unrivalled.
“When he gets in to finish, he’s as cool as you like.”
