Oby Ezekwesili reacts to presidency’s comments on Leah Sharibu's latest audio message

Former Minister of Education, Oby Ezekwesili has slammed the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina for being evasive in his reaction to the recent audio clip by kidnapped Dapchi schoolgirl, Leah Sharibu.

Leah, one of the 119 students of the Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, Yobe State, kidnapped by Boko Haram terrorists in February, spoke from captivity in an audio recording published yesterday.
Speaking in the Hausa Language, she begged President Muhammadu Buhari to come to her rescue.

Adesina, while speaking on Channels TV programme, Sunrise Daily, on Tuesday said God is interested in her and will ensure that she is preserved.

“For how much longer, I think that question can only be answered by God. I believe that God is interested in that young girl and will ensure that she is preserved.

“I think when that clip that we have is verified, at least one will be sure that it’s her and when that is determined, we should all be glad that she is alive.

“When will she return, by the grace of God, the government is working on it and we believe she will be back,” Adesina remarked.

Ezekwesili reacted to the remark on Twitter, with many knocks on Adesina for his comments.

She tweeted: “Who else listened to the President’s media aide Femi Adesina find anything worthy to laugh about while speaking about abducted children & their parents?

“A Spokesperson that never has FACTS on Hot Button Issues — ‘I believe’ ‘I expect’, ‘some agency not Presidency’. Na REAL waa.

“I forced myself to listen to a Media Aide to the President who seems to blame Nigerians for not ‘seeing’ the imaginary great things that have been done.

“Totally TONE DEAF and lacking the capacity to LEARN from perennial failures of the administration he communicates. BIG SHAME.”
