Nigerians have reacted to reports
by the Nigeria Police Force linking the Senate President, Bukola Saraki to
armed robbery suspects in the Offa Bank robbery incident.
Force Spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood
had over the weekend disclosed that some of the suspects arrested in connection
with the Offa Bank robbery incident, had allegedly indicted Saraki and the
Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed.
Against this backdrop, the Police
had summoned the Senate President for questioning.
But Saraki in a swift reaction,
claimed that the Police was plotting to frame him.
Reacting to the saga, Nigerians
who took to their Twitter handle wrote: @akaebube: “My attention has been drawn
to the fact that Police has summoned Senate President, Saraki while DSS has
withdrawn operatives attached to him. Ladies and Gentlemen, Our Democracy is
now in injury time.”
@pius_adesanmi: “To think that I
did a thread on Naija politicians and empowerment only yesterday! Now that
Saraki & Kwara State Gov appear to have empowered wahala, let’s hope their
corrupt peers in Naija’s leadership will stop d madness of looting funds &
“empowering” their victims with trifle.”
@jacksonpbn: “ Offa Bank Robber
said @bukolasaraki bought him a car, dlivered thru the Chief of Staff to Gov
Ahmed of Kwara State. What is the link btw Saraki, Gov Ahmed and the Offa Bank
Robeery and killing, robber has no answer, yet @PoliceNG summon Saraki. We are
indeed finished in Nigeria!”
@jacksonpbn: “The same way
Obasanjo used character assassination against Atiku, is the same way Buhari and
his goons have employed character assassination against any perceived, real or
imagined opposition to Buhari. But soon, they would know Saraki is a deft
politician!”
@akaebube: “I watched police
spokesman talk about Rule of law while addressing newsmen on the Saraki summon.
Rule of law that his boss failed to observe when Senate summoned him. I have
said it before that we should decide whether to practice democracy or return it
to the owners. EOD!”
@ogundamisi: “@bukolasaraki
called for a “sweeping investigation and prosecution of all suspects.”
implicated in Offa Deadly Armed Robbery. @PoliceNG are obliging him. Problem is
the investigation is leading right back to Saraki. Someone get me my pop-corn.”
@SKSolaKuti: “ If I were Saraki,
I would get my lawyer to inform the police that I would only be available on
Tuesday at 4pm. Tuesday morning I would impeach Buhari and Osinbajo…then become
acting president and arrest the IGP for murder of Kano REC.”
@Lexy63306393: “Can Saraki tell
us he doesn’t know the guys. Although he did not send them to rob but he is
their God father.”
@bazamfarey: “If Saraki cannot
sponsor arm robbers, how can PMB sponsor headsmen?”
@Karovoni: “I don’t believe
Saraki paid those guys to rob Offa bank, not in the least. But are they his
thugs?”
@Ifeabunike: ”I called Bullshit
on this issue when I saw that RX300 customized with Saraki’s name being paraded
by the Police. These lots don’t rate us at all.
@gimbakakanda: “The resources
being invested in these politically motivated hunts of renegade politicians,
from Shehu Sani through Dino Melaye to Bukola Saraki, would’ve saved hundreds
of lives killed in Zamfara, Benue, Taraba and all vulnerable areas under
attack.”
@isaajibola: “Yes, Saraki might
be implicated because they might be one his political thugs but he didn’t tell
them to go en rob banks with the equipment. Saraki will deny them in the end.
Late Baba Adedibu thugs in Ibadan also terrorised people during his time.”
@Agoras: “Offa robbery suspects
telling the corrupt police they were “political thugs” of Saraki does not mean
that Saraki or Kwara State governor sent them to rob and kill. This case
stinks. Buhari should be ashamed of himself. In 2019, Tinubu, Osinbajo and
Buhari will be kicked out.”
Let me ask a very simple question here:
ReplyDeleteAssuming these robbers have the confessed links or association with an ordinary Nigerian instead of Saraki, would this individual be absolved of any involvement or connivance or facilitation of the robbery?
