The Plateau States Police command
has confirmed that 25 people were killed and two others injured as suspected Fulani
herdsmen attacked a village in Miango, Bassa LGA of Plateau State.
It was gathered that the
attackers came Monday evening and killed 25 persons, leaving scores injured in
Dundu village of Miango District, Bassa LGA of the State.
Danjuma Auta, a former Secretary
General of Irigwe Youth Movement, told our correspondent that, “The attackers
came around 7pm yesterday (Monday) and killed 25 people in Dundu village,
leaving several others injured.”
“We don’t know the motive behind
the attacks. Today, we buried those that were murdered last week, and again we
are faced with more deaths, its unfortunate,” he lamented.
Confirming the attacks, the
Plateau Police Command Spokesperson, ASP Mathias Tyopev Terna said, “There was
an attack yesterday in Bassa, as such the Commissioner of Police Plateau State
Command, Jos has directed the DCP Taiwo Jebiyisu, in charge of Department of
Operations to go to the scene of crime for an on the spot assessment.
“As such, he is there now; the
information is sketchy”.
“Twenty five 25 people were
killed in the attack and two injured.”
