D’Tigers Ranked Africa’s Best

Nigeria’s male basketball team remained Africa’s highest ranked team on the FIBA ranking released on March 1, 2018.


The team which won all their three 2019 World Cup qualifying games in Mali last week, also retained their number 32 ranking in the world.

Senegal that won two of their games moved a spot up to 35th in the world and upstaged Angola as the second best team in Africa.

However, Angola that won all their three World Cup qualifying games last month dropped four spots on the world stage to place 37 and also dropped to third in Africa.

African champions, Tunisia dropped six spots to place 52 in the world and fifth in Africa, while Egypt moved up a spot to place 50 in the world and upstage Tunisia as fourth best team in Africa.

Morocco moved up three spot to place 64 in the world and sixth in Africa, while Cameroon also profited from the qualifiers moving up five spot to 65 and seventh in Africa.
