The Arewa Youths Consultative
Forum has condemned the demolition of the building that housed a Kaduna faction
of the All Progressives Congress (APC) by the Governor Nasir el-Rufai.
They stated that the development
throw the state into political turmoil and warned El-Rufai to watch his
actions.
A statement issued by AYCF
President Shettima Yerima on Tuesday said as stakeholders in the state, they
will not fold their arms and watch an individual’s ambition created violence in
Kaduna.
Yerima cautioned el-Rufai and his
handlers against allowing premodial interest to override the general safety of
people of the state.
“We note with deep concern that
this is the second time el-Rufai will allow political intolerance to get the
better of him.
“These, combined with his
numerous unapologetic and hurtful public utterances are in no small measure
harmful to the spirit of civil engagement in every democracy the world over.
“Nigeria and indeed the entire
democratic world should hold el-Rufai responsible for any untoward incident
resultant from his growing impatience and intolerance to opposition,” Yerima
said.
Yerima said uncivilised actions
would definitely add to the numerous other burdens el-Rufai would have to carry
to the 2019 polls.
“This time around, el-Rufai must
be made to pay compensation for the destruction from his own account. It will
not be acceptable for public funds to be used in settling his wanton destruction,”
he concluded.
Meanwhile, the state government
through its Urban Planning and Development Agency has explained why it
demolished the secretariat.
