Kidnappers release lawmaker’s son in Zamfara

The last of the two sons of the member representing Maradun/Bakura Federal constituency of Zamfara State, Alhaji Yahaya Chado has been released by his abductors after a week in captivity.

The News Agency of Nigeria recalls that Muhammad Yahaya and his elder brother Junaidu Yahaya were abducted by gunmen on Jan. 22 at their home in Gora village, Maradun Local Government Area.

The gunmen, who went away with the two children, also killed six and wounded four other persons on their way out of the village.

However, the abductors released Muhammad about two hours later with a mobile phone number on which they demanded N10 million as ransom to release Junaidu.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Muhammad Shehu, who confirmed the release to NAN on Wednesday however said, “we are not aware of the payment of any amount as ransom to secure the release of the victim’’.

Junaidu, who was dropped in the village by the abductors on Tuesday, has been taken to the Police Headquarters in Gusau for debriefing.
“We are hoping to get to the hideout of the criminals,’’ he added.
