I fall sick every December- 9ice

For decades, Living Things crooner, Abolore Adigun, better known as ‘9ice’ has been making waves on the Nigerian music scene and he is not ready to leave the stage anytime soon like traditional rulers who could be on the throne for decades until death separates them from it.

In a chat with Showtime,  the self-styled ‘Ancestor’ who recently took to social media to wish his first son, Zion, a speedy recovery from an undisclosed ailment, explained to Showtime how he falls sick every December and his son, Zion, took after him, which is why he was also sick last December.

He said; “I fall sick every December and I think the boy is just like me; he’s my carbon copy and he is experiencing everything I’ve gone through in life. I recently noticed it and confirmed that it is hereditary. Funny thing is he would be sick but nothing will happen to him. If I ask him what exactly is wrong with him, he would say nothing; then I would ask him why is he sick but he would say I shouldn’t worry that he’s fine. That’s exactly what happens to me every December, so it’s a normal thing.”

On how he was able to bounce back after a prolonged hiatus from the music scene, he boasted of being an idol that can never lose its divine powers.”An ancestor is different from an Alhaji; we see many Alhajis every year but an ancestor remains. You can either be a Muslim or a Christian but you must have an idol you worship in your house as a traditionalist. I’m a household idol and that’s how God has created it”, he boasted.

Speaking on the recent reunion between warring pop stars, Wizkid and Davido, he expressed excitement, saying  “I was very happy when I heard of it, I said finally we can come together and unite.

Just like we had a king in England, we also had a king in France. The sky is wide enough for everyone to fly without disturbing one another. I’m so happy for them”.
