2017 Anambra Governorship Elections - APGA's Willie Obiano defeats PDP and APC to win all 21 LGA's


APGA's Willie Obiano yesterday defeated PDP and APC to win all 21 local governments in Anambra state at the 2017 Anambra Governorship Elections.



The Independent National Electoral Commission through the Returning Officer, Prof. Zanna Akpago, declared Obiano the winner of the November 18, 2017 governorship election at the commission’s office in Awka on Sunday.

A native of Uga in the Aguata Local Government Area, Obiano polled 234,071 votes to beat Nwoye (APC), who came a distant second with 98,752 votes.

The PDP governorship candidate (Obaze), who lost in Ogbaru, his local government area to Obiano, came third in the November 18 contest with 70,293 votes.


The candidate of the United Progressive Party and former Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Osita Chidoka, came fourth with 7,903 votes.

  3. No one has congratulated the President for not rigging the election in favor of the ruling party unlike what was obtainable some few years ago. We are making progress in politics at least.

    1. Like in Osun, Edo and this same Anambra?. Idiot. GEJ's administration conducted elections in these states and the different parties won. GEJ did not rig elections for PDP

  4. I am apolitical when it comes to Party Politics. I am happy to congratulate APGA for a stunning victory. I am happy that tha last toehold of Dim Odumegwu Ojukwu's legacy still remains loyal. Let APC not rejoice by beating PDP to third place. If APGA is removed all the votes will go to PDP. The party iOS nonexistent in the south east . We still remain 5 percenters.
