Photos: Rochas Okorocha builds giant statue of Jacob Zuma, names a road after him in Imo State

Imo state governor Rochas Okorocha, on Saturday, unveiled a giant statue of South Africa president Jacob Zuma in Owerri, Imo state.
He was also conferred with a traditional chieftaincy title by the state governor, “Ochiagha Imo” by Eze Imo, HRH Samuel Ohiri.

Governor Okorocha also conferred on President Zuma, the Imo Merit Award, the highest award in the State conferred on distinguished personalities who have made a difference in the development of their communities and to humanity.
The South African president also had a road – Jacob Zuma Road – named after him.
According to Punch, Okorocha had revealed earlier that the South African president will be signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between his Zuma Foundation and Okorocha’s Rochas Okorocha Foundation.

  1. I dont know why Jacob Zuma deserves this kind of honor. He is a disappointment to Africa.
    However, politicians are all the same. Rochas is also on an image laundering drive with Imo state money.

  2. I don't see anything wrong with naming road after Jecob Zuma, but let Rochas build new roads and name it after anybody not old road and rename it

  3. I feel embarrassed that a president from another African country is commissioning a road in Nigeria. The road does not in anyway link the two nations. So what is the significance

  4. This is one clear evidence that Imo State Governor - Rochas Okorocha is either crazy or stupid. Why didn't he use famed living or late Igbo son and daughter or even other Nigerian? Why South African President Zuma. What has he done to deserve such honor? Why not Mandela – the icon of anti-apartheid movement or Archbishop Desmond Tutu another South African anti-apartheid and social rights activist and clergyman. There must be a reason for this. May be, that’s where he Rochas plans to go on exile. But Biafran people will get there also. He has no hiding place in this planet.
