EFCC detains dismissed soldier, accomplice over alleged army recruitment scam

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested two suspects, Kabiru Adamu and Hashimu Mohammed, for allegedly engaging in employment fraud.

The first suspect who was a former military personnel was nabbed by the Nigerian Army and handed over to the anti-graft agency following series of complaints against him from some victims whom he duped under the pretense offering them recruitment into the Nigerian Army.

After his arrest, Adamu who disclosed that Mohammed was his accomplice, was discovered to be carrying a Nigerian Army identity card bearing the name of one Idris Salisu who is also a military personnel.

He told newsmen “I removed the picture of the bearer and affixed my own passport photograph on the I.D card.”

When the suspect was asked how he came in possession of the I.D card, he said “I found it in a wallet I picked up in Lagos among other valuables.”

Based on other facts Adamu volunteered, Mohammed was subsequently arrested in Kano, and both men reportedly admitted their crime while writing their statements.
