Why Tyrone Ebuehi is yet to make Super Eagles debut

ADO Den Haag defender, Tryone Ebuehi, is yet to feature for the Super Eagles, because he is still adapting to the physicality of African football.

Nigeria pulled all stops to convince Ebuehi, to snub Holland and play for his country of birth.

However, aside featuring in the friendly games against Togo and Corsica, the defender who is comfortable as a right or left fullback, is yet to make his competitive debut with the Eagles.

“Ebuehi is very much in the plans of Rohr. He knows it and very soon he will be given the chance to play in a competitive game. You have to introduce him slowly else you destroy his confidence,” a backroom staff of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) revealed to OwnGoalNigeria.

“He is really quick but the physical nature of African football is what he is gradually getting used to. It’s a slow process, he was educated the Dutch way where emphasis is less on physical duels. So he need time to adjust to African football before he is thrown into the deep end.”
