Reno Omokri reacts to EFCC’s arrest of Ekiti Finance Commissioner, Accountant-General

Reno Omokri, former Special Adviser on New Media to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has reacted to the arrest of the Ekiti state Commissioner for Finance, Toyin Ojo, and the Accountant General of the state, Oluyemisi Owolabi.

The arrest was made shortly after the Governor of Ekiti state, Ayo Fayose, declared his presidential ambition ahead of 2019.

In his reaction, Omokri described the arrest as a deliberate attempt by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to cripple Fayose.

He wrote on his Facebook page: “The EFCC had said the arrest was necessary following their refusal to honour previous invitations for interrogation in relation to pending investigation on the misuse of bail-out funds by the Fayose administration.

“So Governor Ayo Fayose declares for the 2019 Presidential election today and within hours his finance commissioner and Accountant General are arrested!

“The EFCC could not even pretend and wait a couple of days after Fayose declared before arresting his finance team to cripple him!

“Is this what we should expect as 2019 approaches? Is there still democracy in Nigeria? What type of administration is this?

“If Goodluck Jonathan had done this to Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress, would they have been where they are today?

“The APC got to where it is by free and fair elections and they must not remove the ladder that others left intact for them.”

  1. Hypocrites... Why now if not hypocrasy? Go to Kogi where the Governor is owing workers 10-20 months salaries. Ok, I have forgotten, Kogi is APC, but just for a while.

    1. Andy, you can't shut me up. The question is; why that Thursday Fayose made the declaration that the arrest was made? Secondly, am from Kogi State. Ekiti is far better than Kogi in that aspect of non payment of salaries. In fact, Kogi is one of the worst cases. Don't worry, keep shutting me up, by next election Bello will know his rightful place.

  3. So how does the arrest of of finance commissioner and accountant general have anything to do with Fayose's declaration? Is it to cripple his financing for his campaign?

  4. EFCC, please stop making yourself a tool for politics... Haba, this is so glaring... Declaration on Thursday, arrest was made that same Thursday. This is not good for a healthy Democracy...
