President Muhammadu Buhari on
Saturday ordered security agencies to arrest those behind a night attack on
Ancha village, Bassa local government area of Plateau State.
He expressed sadness at the
senseless killing of persons, especially women and children.
The President, in a statement by
his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, also
expressed disappointment at the disruption of peace and normalcy that had
reasonably taken root in the state.
He urged stakeholders not to
allow the incident to destroy the progress made so far in the state.
He said: “It is unlawful of
anyone or group to take the laws into their hands in the name of revenge or
reprisals, rather than follow due process by allowing law enforcement agencies
to fish out any such aggressors who will be made to face justice.
“The various communities in the
state have taken many steps, with the support of security agencies and
mediators to pull the state back from the brink of anarchy and senseless
killings warranted by attacks and counterattacks.
“It will be a painful loss to
allow these unsavoury acts to return. I urge all our communities in the state
and the other parts of the country to embrace peace and bring to a stop these
painful and unnecessary killings.”
The President further reiterated
the determination of the Federal Government to protect lives and property of
all citizens, wherever they reside.
Good evening everyone. How did this attack and killing happen? Is this a form of revenge or straight out attack? I'm not in support of revenge in anyway but we think differently from each other. I as a person think like a Christian that I'm. I don't believe in tit for tat. The Word of God, the Bible that I read does not teach revenge. Jesus Christ does not teach revenge and so I don't practice revenge because it's like taking the place of God when u revenge. But people take to revenge when they feel they have been cheated and no one is fighting for or defending them. When they feel that some people are untouchable and so, they want to defend themselves, fight for themselves, or prove that there are no untouchables as far as they are concerned, hence they go avenging themselves, not considering the consequences. And that's why we should have a government that is functional without partiality of whatsoever. Govenments are meant to do our dirty jobs of revenge. I call it dirty because it's not good for anyone to go out and revenge, it's ugly but the government should step in FAST and do what is right by thorough and clean investigation. The government should and is supposed to defend the defenseless. When a government is FUNCTIONAL, people will see it and they wouldn't want to waste their time and risking their lives trying to avenge, PERIOD. No President of any functional government should have to tell or instruct the law agents when to arrest the law breakers before the law enforcement agents do that, and that is not to condemn the President, Mr Buhari for doing that. I'm trying to blame the police. The President is to see that justice is served but it shouldn't get to the level that he has to tell them the security agencies to move before they move. If the law enforcement agents don't do whatever they are paid to do, the next thing should be to get them arrested and be tried and thrown in jail for abetting. They should be dealt with for failing on their duties. Heads should have been rolling for the law enforcement agents being able to sleep since the killings happened without arrests, GENUINE arrests. They should have rounded up those killers as soon as it happened and not wait for a minute or for instructions from the President. These police department doesn't even know what they are doing. I bet u right now, what they will probably go do will be to arrest innocent people and leave the killers roaming about the streets. How incompetent they are and not all of them but majority of hem are just corrupt and ignorant of their responsibility. If the President would have to tell them when to investigate, then would tell them when not to? Every act of law breaking should be genuinely, truthfully, and timely investigated without corrupt practices. Tanx to our able President for standing up this time, and I used this time becos I have heard that he has not been doing that in the past, which I don't know the truth about and if it not true, please I beg for ur forgiveness. There's been killings in Northern Kaduna and nothing has been done about it. Jesus Christ God's Son is alive and He alone is able to make an evil heart a good one.
