Nigerian Army to begin exercise Python Dance II in South East

The Nigerian Army, Friday, said it would commence its second phase of Exercise PYTHON DANCE, tagged Python Dance II, otherwise known as EGWU EKE II, in the South Eastern part of Nigeria, comprising states such as Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo, from Friday 15 September to Saturday 14 October 2017.

It said the Exercise Python Dance II “is conceptualised to transit into real time operations…against violent criminals and agitators when called upon.”

A statement signed on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, by the Army Chief of Training and Operations, said the conduct of the exercise Python Dance II in the South East states has become even more expedient due to the “mindless assassinations (even in religious places), attack on security personnel, theft of weapons, armed banditry, kidnapping, cultism and   violent agitations, as well as other security challenges that have recently become prevalent in the South Eastern part of the country.”

It said, during the exercise, emphasis will be placed on raids, cordon and search operations, anti-kidnapping drills, road blocks, check points and show of force, as well as humanitarian activities such as medical outreach.

It also said that the “Operation EGWU EKE II is set to be another epoch making exercise that would make the nation proud of the Nigerian Army’s determination at sustaining its constitutional role of defending the territorial integrity of the nation as well as its commitment to aid the civil authority to bring about peace and security in the south eastern part of our dear country.”

It said, “In this regard, members of the public especially the residents of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo States are enjoined not to panic as their safety and well-being is guaranteed at all times. The general public is requested to remain vigilant and be security conscious, as suspected criminals may be fleeing from military operations in these areas and finding safe haven amidst our communities.
“The public is also reminded to report any suspicious activity or movement to the nearest military formation or other security agencies for prompt action. In order to ensure cordial civil-military relations, we shall make contact phone numbers of all Brigade Commanders public in addition to the Nigerian Army short code Information and Call Centre 193.”

  6. The soldiers they will use in this exercise, how have they been taken care of? U can imagine how much money they will be puting inside this exercise yet soldiers are suffering up and down. Been treated as slaves yet they are these important, because na soldiers dem go use. During this exercise na pure water soldiers go drink while dem na bottle water. Sometimes I feel sey na jazz dem take hold soldiers. This maginilization must stop. If na jazz, soldiers should reject it. They deserve more from this country. This time dont give them garri and kulikuli. Take care of soldiers and they will put in thier best. Dont use and dump dem. Retired soldiers record is bad. I no fit talk all cos dem plenty abeg. All of us na nigerians, we follow get this country, some ppl no get two heads, everybody na one head so make we respect ourselves

  8. They call the Third World the lazy man’s purview; the sluggishly slothful and languorous prefecture. In this realm people are sleepy, dreamy, torpid, lethargic, and therefore indigent—totally penniless, needy, destitute, poverty-stricken, disfavored, and impoverished. In this demes...ne, as they call it, there are hardly any discoveries, inventions, and innovations. Africa is the trailblazer. Some still call it “the dark continent” for the light that flickers under the tunnel is not that of hope, but an approaching train. And because countless keep waiting in the way of the train, millions die and many more remain decapitated by the day. “It’s amazing how you all sit there and watch yourselves die,” the man next to me said. “Get up and do something about it.”Brawny, fully bald-headed, with intense, steely eyes, he was as cold as they come. 9. This is arrant nonsense. Does this idiot who called himself Buratai and his master Buhari think that they can stop Biafra agitation by intimidation? Many of the Igbos who did not agree to Biafra are now supporting Biafra because of this intimidation of the igbos. Are you telling us there are no kidnapping in Lagos, Abuja, Cross River state and other states. Buhari will soon go back to London to continue with his sickness because of his hatred for Igbos. By this your action you are indirectly hastening the actualization of Biafra without knowing it. The world is watching. You have killed so many unarmed Igbos. The IPOB are not carrying any sticks let alone matchets and you come out to claim that they are violent. Buratai or Burantashi you should mind yourself otherwise you may follow Buhari to London next time and join in his sickness festival.
