Kogi lawmaker sues Gov Bello, others, wants Speaker jailed

Former Minority leader of Kogi state House of Assembly and member representing Igalamela/Odolu State constituency Hon. Friday Sani Makama has approached the Kogi State High Court for committal to prison of the House Speaker, Hon. Matthew Kolawole.

Joined in the suit were Kogi state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the state Commissioner of Justice, the Accountant General and one Hon. Godwin Osuyi as judgement debtors and respondents.

Makama, in the suit through his Counsel, J. S. Okutepa (SAN) claimed that the respondents have disobeyed the state High Court judgement for his reinstatement and payment of arrears of his salaries and allowances.

Copies of form (48) and (49) documents issued by the court showed that the judgement debtors/respondents have been put on notice by the court.

Meanwhile, the attendance register of plenaries presided by the former Speaker, Hon, Umar Imam indicated ‘absent’ for Hon. Friday Sani Makama on 3rd, 15th and 16th August, until the register recorded suspension against Makama when the new Speaker took over on the 23rd August, 2017.

Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja had delivered a judgment on the 29th of June, 2017 in which it quashed suspension of the embattled lawmaker.

It ordered the reinstatement and payment of all entitlements to him.
