The presidency yesterday said
hard work and policies of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration made
Nigeria exit recession.
Presidential spokesman, Femi
Adesina, who blamed the recession on mistakes of the past administration, said
the government tackled the problem in just about a year.
Adesina made the remarks at a
solidarity rally on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
A statement by the State House
Deputy Director (Information), Abiodun Oladunjoye, said the march was organised
in support of the Federal Government by the Centre for Civil Society and
Justice.
“You have chosen a very
auspicious day for this solidarity rally. Earlier today, we were told that
Nigeria had officially exited recession,” Adesina said.
“That shows that we have a
government that is working for us, we have a government that is interested in
our welfare, we have a government that is interested in our well-being.”
He assured the gathering that he
would relay their message of support and solidarity on the unity of Nigeria to
President Buhari.
“You know the President swore to
uphold the Constitution and the Constitution recognises Nigeria as one indissoluble
entity. The President has sworn to keep the unity of the country and whatever
it takes; he will keep to that pledge,” he said.
The presidential aide advised
those “beating the drums of separation” to keep their peace, reiterating
government’s resolve to preserve Nigeria’s unity, cohesion and togetherness.
Convener of the rally, Mr
Goodluck Obi, said the group wholeheartedly supports President Buhari’s
uncommon resolve to fix Nigeria.
He said, “We want to sound a note
of warning to both organs of government, that we the Nigerian people would no
longer allow our collective destiny to be toyed with like a game.”
“We are more than ever ready to
mobilise the people to do the needful within the ambit of the law; enough is
enough.”

ReplyDeleteI wonder why the empty drummers of this administration has rolled out their noisy instruments of sycophancy just below 24hrs of the announcement which is yet to be verified or felt by the Nigerian man.
ReplyDeleteWhy are you still calling Jonathan into this. Lets assume the recession was by Jonathan, but the issue is that Nigeria never went into this mess within his regime.
Please face your problems and solve them for the benefit of the Nigerian masses and stop looking for whom to blame.
Lets watch and see how you will sustain this exit from recession.
They exited on their own pocket not for the poor out there, there is still hunger every where and u are saying Nigeria is out of recession, here nothing is working, common NTA our national TV cannot connect and bring Nigerian match with Cameroon live, while ur Oga(Buhari) was busy watching it in Super sport, so tell me how are u patronising ur country, better work had or u go back to square one!

nay, Mr Adesina,it was rather the policy of your boss that took us to recession, throughout the tenure of president Jonathan, Nigeria and Nigerians did not experience recession but this present government in a myopic policy of "fighting corruption" blocked everywhere and make dollars scarece a naira worthless, skyrocking prices and wayroading us to recession until the learnt the policy of the economic team of President Goodluck only when President Buhari was away. Please consult more of the economic team of Goodluck for more ways to manage the economy. We expect an apology from this government to GEJ instead
