A former governor of Anambra
State, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ezeife, has advised the President Muhammadu Buhari-led
Federal Government on what it must not do to the leader of Indigenous People of
Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, and his followers.
Ezeife said crushing the group
will not help in the search for enduring peace and resolution of the nagging
questions of disenchantment that gave rise to the agitation he led.
Speaking, the Igbo
leader said that the issue should be on how to save Nigeria, which he said has
failed woefully.
Buhari appears set to crack down
Kanu and his IPOB, with marching order to his service chiefs earlier in the
week.
But Ezeife advised, “Invoking the
wrath of the law helps nobody. What is necessary is that we, the elders of
Igboland, should speak reason in the head of Kanu.
“He has done great already, but
he is overstepping bounds. For example, he said that the November 18
gubernatorial election in Anambra State would not hold.
“If that comes to pass, what does
he think would happen? The Federal Government would declare a state of
emergency in Anambra and choose whom they like to be the sole administrator of
that state.
“Would Kanu like that, would any
clear thinking person like that? That will be creating another opportunity for
the Federal Government to devastate the South East the more.
“The issue is that when a young
man is making progress, especially being adored by the people, he may go beyond
reason without knowing it; with all his good intentions, he may go beyond
reason. Instead of castigating him, let us talk reason into his head.”
U the elders should therefore bring him to sense, the story of Biafran and Nigerian war is teriffic, beside we the igbos do not trust ourselves, so let federal government bring restructuring to the table let there be peace in the land, live and let others live, igbo kwenu! Kwenu!!, kwezuenu!!!
ReplyDeleteWise talk.
ReplyDeleteSo Nnamdi Kanu is making good progress by insulting and castigating other tribes and ethnicity right??? Posterity will judge all of u...plz Pmb crush that idiot forever..nothing will happen..there can only be one captain in a ship not two..long live Naija..long live pmb..
ReplyDeleteU are saying nothing will happen, when the time comes u will vanish in the air, u will not be able to defend ur comment, this is the kind of people that set fire and come asking what is burning
DeleteYes talk sense into his head as he abuses Yorubas and Hausas. Is dat right? And instead of Igbo elders like Amaechi, Nwabueze and others caution him, they are applauding him. When things go out of hands these leaders will be d first to die owing to old age. Let them die peacefully instead of allowing d bastard to kill them becos of his ambition.
