The President Muhammadu
Buhari-led Federal Government says it has commenced the process of
restructuring.
The Minister of Information and
Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed made the disclosure on Tuesday while featuring on
Channels television.
The Minister revealed that the
Federal Government is restructuring the country through power devolution.
Mohammed noted that restructuring
to the Federal Government means its policies being felt by those at the
grassroot and this has been happening.
He cited the directive by the
Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo that Police should commence community policing
among others.
According to Mohammed, “For the Federal Government restructuring means devolution of power.
“Restructuring means for the Federal Government a system whereby government’s policies and programmes can reach everybody at the grassroots.
“For us, restructuring means ability that will allow you to deliver and in our own way, we have started.
“The Acting President (then) issued an order to the police that they should start implementing community policing; that is one aspect of restructuring that we believe will deliver better criminal justice.
“We as a government we look at our constitution as it is today and we follow strictly what the constitution says, and in applying the constitution we look at practical ways of reaching out to people.
“The constitution is the grundnorm today, that is the basis of our being together and you cannot today as a government do anything that is contrary to that Constitution because that is the supreme law of the country.
“So, even when you talk about restructuring you may need to amend certain provisions of the constitution, and we all know how cumbersome it is to do that.
“But we are not averse to genuine grievances, we are ready to look at them, but what the government cannot do is to react to the cacophony of voices.”
We are feeling the restructuring really with the hardship you have inflict on us in the Grass-root after giving you our mandate,you restructured garri from N150 to 950,Rice from 8k to 18k,Tomatoes from N100 to N500,Transportation %400 increment,Fuel N87 to N145,to not mention. All the local amenities we are enjoying before May 2015,have been restructured after we voted APC. Now man can not even pay children school fees again,Wife has run out of the house. What is remaining in the Grassroot Lia Mohamed. May almighty Allah bring this administration to an end by the next election. I am keeping my voters card ready to vote you out. Promise and fail Daddy.
