ASUU: Ebonyi varsity shuns nationwide strike

The Academic staff Union of universities, ASUU, Ebonyi state chapter has allegedly shunned the nationwide strike declared by the National President of the Union, Comrade Biodun Ogunyemi to commence today.

At the time of filling this report, students were seen receiving their lectures and offices were opened for businesses at the CAS campus and that of the Permanent site.

When contacted, the chairman Ebsu ASUU, Dr Uche Onwe said that the chapter would hold its congress on Wednesday to determine whether to join the nationwide strike or not.

Recall that the nationwide strike was declared rising from the National Executive Council, NEC meeting of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, held in the University of Abuja, mandating all chapters to participate in the ongoing strike.

Recall also that, Ogunyemi had ordered that, “the strike is to be a total, comprehensive and indefinite action whereby no form of academic activities, including teaching, attendance of any meeting, conduct and supervision of any examination at any level, supervision of project or thesis at any level should take place at any of the nation’s universities”.

It was gathered that the strike would affect the students of Ebonyi state University whose examination has been scheduled to hold next month.
