The Presidency has disclosed that the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, on Friday, paid a personal visit to ailing President Muhammadu Buhari in London, United Kingdom where he has been receiving medical attention since May 7.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Friday.

Adesina said the Archbishop visited Buhari, who he described as his friend, at Abuja House, London.

The presidential spokesman quoted Welby as saying during the visit that he was delighted to see the rapid recovery Buhari has made from his health challenges.

The Anglican priest was further quoted as describing the President’s recovery as a testimony to the healing powers of God, and answer to prayers of millions of people around the world.

The statement read, “The cleric pledged to continue praying for both President Buhari and Nigeria.

“In his response, the Nigerian President thanked Archbishop Welby, whom he noted had always stood by him at critical times and wished him God’s continued grace in his spiritual duty of leading the Anglican Communion worldwide.”

It will be recalled that when former British Prime Minister, David Cameron, described Nigeria as a “fantastically corrupt” country ahead of an anti-corruption summit in London in 2016, Welby had retorted, “But this particular President (Buhari) is actually not corrupt.”

The Archbishop later personally received the Nigerian President at Lambert Palace, London, and had also paid a goodwill visit to Buhari in March, during his medical vacation.

  1. Honestly Buhari should not come back till December, looking at this picture shows that all is not well at all as presidency used to claim there is no cause for alarm, there is serious alarm, I can now pray for ur recovery. I wish u could resign and just face ur health, as an elderly man, old age has set in and there is nothing anyone could do about this. Please resign for a better health and life.

  2. Resisgn for what, why? No o, I'm not in support of President Buhari's resignation. The only thing why anyone is doing anything good in Nigeria today especially in government is because of this man's presence. It's because he is still seen there. I don't trust most of these people parading the corridors of power, as party whatever. I'm not a politician and I don't belong to any political party but the minute Buhari leaves, the little that we can see now will be gone forever and u will wish he comes back. Let him do whatever he can for Nigeria NOW no matter what. Let the VP keep it on, he's strong or what's hindering him? He's the acting President and he should at least have some powers. And if there's consultation to be made before anything major is done, then let him consult by phone or something. He's been doing something and he should continue till the President comes back home, Period. Everyone that has anybgood agenda, no matter how little for Nigeria doesn't last, it's like we kill them. What is wrong with us? Murtala died in 6 months, they removed Buhari/Idiagbon in less than 2 years or so if that's right, Yaradua died too early for us to enjoy his impact and he was changing things around, and Buhari came back to continue his good agenda and look at him, he's sick but no matter what, he will live inJesusname. But look at those with no good thing for Nigeria how they stay long and longer than the ones with something good. Ha no o, I don't want my children and grand to experience what I'm experiencing now in Nigeria when they are my age. That's why it's time to be convinced that President Buhari may try but the power of change REALLY is with God through individual and collective hearts of Nigerians. We nigerians need to have a change of hearts for a true change to manifest. It's the responsibility of all Nigerians and except we all come to realize that there's ONLY One heart changer who is able to change our hearts and He's standing by ready to help if we embrace Him and that person is Jesus Christ. He changed my heart and many other hearts and He can urs if u let Him. And u are right if u refer to some people that claim to have accepted this Jesus Christ and also claimed to have a change of heart but are still misbehaving, even some so called Pastors that are supposed to be good examples but are in the mud. Yes, it's true but my answer is that, anyone may lay claim on whatever or say whatever they want BUT because they say it or claim it doesn't make it true. We are all going to be judged according to our deeds in the flesh. And Jesus Christ said that not all that call Him Lord shall enter into heaven. If we can all start by changing our hearts by accepting Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord, then we will be able to effect the change that Nigeria needs. There can't be a change of system without a change of the hearts that run such systems because out of the hearts comes systems, fornication, adultery, greed, selfishness, tribalism, ethnicity, nepotism, bribery, looting, stealing, 10 and 20 percenters, and so on. Consider this and u are blessed inJesusChristname. If any is offended, it's not my intension so please forgive me. Today Friday 08042017 @ 2:30pm.
