The spokesperson of the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, Ango Abdullahi has alleged that resources from the North was used to develop other regions of Nigeria.

Abdullahi made the claim while berating people of the South for saying people of the North were cheating them in the area of resource control.
Speaking in Zaria on Friday, the NEF spokesperson said it was the money from the North that was used to construct Nigerian Railways, refineries and other facilities.
The former Vice Chancellor recalled that the tradition had remained during the colonial masters and nothing changed after they left the country.
He said, “These people always pretend that the North is cheating them, not minding the fact that Southern Nigeria was developed by resources from the North.
“Please, look for a book written by Adamu Fika, the Waziri of Fika on Nigeria’s budget before and after independence.
“Each year, up to the time Nigeria gained its independence, none of the two regions was able to provide for itself.
“I mean none of the Western and Eastern regions had the money to effectively run the affairs of its region until they got financial support from the Northern region.
“First oil exploration was conducted using money from groundnut pyramid, cotton, hide and skin among other cash crops from Northern Nigeria.
“However, these people tend to forget all these goodies provided by the North towards ensuring the unity and corporate existence of Nigeria.
“They always look down on us, feeling like Northerners are parasites in this country.”

  2. Ango Abdullahi, you have psychosis issues. What about the resources from cocoa, coffee, palm oil, palm nuts etc. Abdullahi, you need immediate mental health evaluation. How many academic papers did produce before you were made professor? And more.

  4. Ango Abdul-lie, When you want to talk, always get your facts right and do a thorough research before coming to the public to open your buccal cavity and vomit trash.

Ango, where were the moneys made from cocoa, timber and coffee from the west? Remember that shortly before and immediately after the independence, there was a system of regional government in Nigeria in which each region was able to run its affairs and grew economically, politically and socially at their own pace and style using the resources at their disposal.
Where was it written that the north lent other regions money or gave grants to them? It seems that the infirmities of old age are catching up with you Anglo Abdul-lie!

  5. There is a lot of falsehood in Adamu Fika's book to which Ango Abdullahi referred. Take this statement:
“First oil exploration was conducted using money from groundnut pyramid, cotton, hide and skin among other cash crops from Northern Nigeria."
This is totally false. Shell D'Arcy started oil exploration in Nigeria in 1938 and struck the first oil in commercial quantities at Oloibiri in 1956. The company brought its own money into the country and did not take a dime from the government. The government - then British - only granted the license.

Those who read the book should take its statements with a pinch of salt. It is just not factual and has deliberately distorted history for political ends.

  6. Lots and lots of falsehood by Adamu Fika in his book. Take this other statement:

"“Each year, up to the time Nigeria gained its independence, none of the two regions was able to provide for itself.
“I mean none of the Western and Eastern regions had the money to effectively run the affairs of its region until they got financial support from the Northern region.

Totally false. Actually, each region had its own commodity boards. When ICSA managed the development of Northern Region with resources from that region, the Western Region had the famous Cocoa Board. It is ludicrous to say that Cocoa House at Ibadan and University of Ife were built with money from the North! The East had its own Palm Oil board too. Each region did what it could do with its own resources. The Western Region was the first to introduce free primary education which other regions said they could not afford. Is Adamu Fika suggesting that it was money from the North that made it possible? Nonsense!

Adamu Fika published a tissue of lies in his book, and that book is not a credible reference for anything.

    1. Google "Oil Exploration Nigeria" and you would see (at least on Wikipaedia) who started oil exploration in Nigeria. The government had no hand in it other than grant the license. You don't have to know who a writer is. There are historical records, and both Ango Abdullahi and Adamu Fika are lying. Some of us writing here are old enough to tell us the history of Nigeria before the oil boom. Being a professor does not imply integrity. If it did, the United States Company energy Enron would never have collapsed - they had the best brains from the best American universities.

  8. Error in reasoning from Ango Abdulahi. Ango has always been an ethnic & religious bigots. Is Ango telling the whole world that before the advent of oil as the nation's major source of income, that the south and the West were parasiting on the economy of the North?

    1. Don't mind them. They are blatantly lying and some people here think because someone is called "Professor" he cannot lie. What crass ignorance! If what they are saying about the East and West parasiting on the North, how come the West was able to afford free primary education under Awolowo while the north could not?

  12. Fellow Nigerians, I mean the Patriots.

This rogue, Ango Abdullahi's statement shows the hatred for other Nigerians that are not from the North. But, with his age, the way he dressed show how childish he is.

And unless those Patriotic Northerners caution the rogue elements in their community, the small number of like Ango Abdullahi will cause troubles in the country.

  14. Why do we waste our time and energy talking about this extremist who got his prof through backyard door called quota system. A system that have made nigerian education a laughing stock in the eyes of committee of nations. Can Ango compete with other profs from Ghana or even Sierra Leone. Ango is a local champion deceiving his gullible northerners with lies and deceit. The marriage b/w north and south was contracted basically for south to carter or subsidized north that couldn't stand on her own economically as at that time.
