All arrangements have been concluded to receive the corpse of the former Governor of the defunct Western Region, General Robert Adeyinka Adebayo by the six governors of the South-West region at 2pm.
Oyo State capital since Monday morning has worn a new look with different posters, bill boards and others bearing the pictures and images of the former Military Governor at strategic locations such as Ojoo-UI-Mokola Road, Bodija- Secretariat Road and Dugbe-Mokola Road, among others.
In a brief chat, a member of Communications and Strategy team to Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State said that dignitaries will receive the corpse at 2pm and follow it to the House of Chiefs, Parliamentary building, Ibadan where lying in state would be held.
It was gathered that expected dignitaries at the event will include the host Governor Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo), Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola (Osun), Senator Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun), Mr. Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Mr. Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti) and Mr. Akinwumi Ambode (Lagos).
Others expected to grace the occasion include members of Yoruba Council of Elders, Alumni of the University of Ibadan and other stakeholders who are expected to pay tribute to the late leader and elder statesman.
It would be recalled that General Adebayo died on 8th March, 2017 at the age of 89, a day before his 90th birthday.
Members of the burial committee include the Secretary to Oyo State government, Alhaji Olalekan Alli, his counterpart from Ondo, Mr. Ifedayo Abegunde, a director in Lagos State Governor’s Office, Mrs. Morenike Sobayo and some members of Adebayo family.
