JUST IN: Senator Dino Melaye allegedly caught on tape bribing tribunal Judge Akoh Ikpeme (Audio)

An audio tape obtained by Sahara Reporters has revealed how Nigerian Senator Dino Melaye compromised Justice Akon Ikpeme, the tribunal judge who handled his election case in 2015.

In the tape, which captures a telephone conversation between Justice (Mrs) Akoh and Mr. Melaye, the judge is overheard asking Mr. Melaye to give her a bribe in US dollars.

She also asks Mr. Melaye to assist a person Dino repeatedly referred to as her "daughter" secure a job at the Cross Rivers State Ministry of Health.
Justice Ikpeme is allegedly married to a Cross River medical doctor. She is reportedly number 3 in the hierarchy of the Cross Rivers judiciary.
The news agency could however not confirm if Mrs. Ikpeme’s daughter got a job with the Cross Rivers state government, but in a second call between her and Mr. Melaye, the Senator bragged that he had already spoken to the state governor, Prof. Ben Ayade.
In 2016, Justice Ikpeme dismissed a petition by Smart Adeyemi, Mr. Melaye’s opponent, in accordance to the plot to let Mr. Melaye off the hook at the election tribunal.

When contacted, the spokesperson to the Cross Rivers state governor, Christian Ita said they could only locate a family member of the Ikpeme’s who was already a civil servant in the state before Prof. Ayade became the state governor in 2015.

  4. This is what you get from desperate people. Who recorded this conversation? Was the person privy to the arrangement? Was it wire-tapped? Which judge approved the wiretap? How come the matter went ahead if a judge approved the wiretap? Let's face it, you people have no case against Dino. Sowore should go and sit down. You are now almost a nuisance to credible information. The best way to redeem some of the mileage you have lost is to do proper journalistic work. Our days in Unilag is over. This is not newhall where you were rescued o. You know the author of this post knows you VERY WELL!!!

    1. Some of you Nigerians are so stupid, that's why you will continue to be treated like fools and idiots by the few ruling class.Where on Earth did you learn that you must get approval to secretly record suspected crime or actual crime.Instead of you fools to wait until you have all information you'll start showing your stupidity defending issues you lack full knowledge of.When Femi Otedola recorded the bribe demanded and given to Farouk Lawan, was there an approval from a judge?Stupidity and senselessness is the major problem of most Nigerians, hopefully before long, you guys would get proper education to defend and fight for the truth in order to liberate yourselves from poverty and suffering

    2. Good response to those empty-headed fools who are often out to defend the corrupt and criminals in our society. You will even discover how wretched some of them have become as a result of their standing for the corrupt fellows.

    3. You don't even sound like someone who passed through a university with your submission here. Besides, it appears you had a problem with Sowere as a person, simply because you attended the same institution together. This telephone conversation could not have been with Sahara reporters all this while and just been released now. Does it not occur to you that someone that's privileged to the recording just decided to send it to Sahara reporters?

    4. On the issue of Melaye's certificate saga brought up by Sahara reporters, I thought Melaye went to court and I've not read anywhere that Melaye had vacated the suit. With this new allegation, I think if Melaye could not go to court, he's not worth to be called a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

  5. Dino melaye should take them to Court for defamation of character if and only if, Dino melaye is really and sincerely pure innocent, failure to do so Sahara reporters are on the right path of the truth.

    1. This is a more matured and best response compared to all those exonerating or defending Melaye. Our politicians, from recent events are so desperate and corrupt, so much such that no claims against them should be waved aside like that. We have seen how our judiciary has been monetized and bastardized by these money-looting politicians.
