'We just keep hearing the president said this and that, where is President Buhari?' - Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has questioned President Muhammadu Buhari’s persistent absence from state functions, especially the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meetings, asking whether or not the president was now governing the country by proxy.

He said; “Every day, what we hear is President said this, President said that without seeing the President in any official function and one is prompted to ask; where is the president?”

Fayose in a release issued in Ado Ekiti on Thursday, by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said it was becoming obvious that a group of cabal is exercising the powers of the President. “I saw the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr Babachir Lawal on television responding to his suspension and what came to my mind was that there could actually be many presidents operating in the Buhari’s presidency.

“Perhaps, it is for this reason of possible existence of governments within the government of Buhari that confusion pervades the polity, with the President himself writing letter to the Senate to clear someone of wrongdoing and the same person being suspended three months after on the basis of the same allegation.

It is also for this reason that the President nominated Ibrahim Magu to the Senate for confirmation as EFCC Chairman and the DSS, an agency under the Presidency wrote the Senate not to confirm him.

“Most importantly, the President did not attend the FEC meeting last week and the meeting did not hold this week under the flimsy excuse that Easter Break stalled it. How could Easter Break that ended on Monday be responsible for the inability to hold FEC meeting on Wednesday? Definitely, there is more to this than meets the eye. “It has therefore become necessary that Nigerians hear the voice of their President and see him physically, not through surrogates or the cabal operating behind the scene,” the governor said.

Speaking further, Governor Fayose, who described a President as the face and image of a nation, urged President Buhari to hold regular media chat in which Nigerians can ask questions and offer suggestions on the running of the country.

“Since his first and only media chat was held in December 2015, Nigerians have not had opportunity of seeing their President address them directly and this is not the best approach to governance in a democracy,” he said.

    1. You and who know his thought?? Thought Fayose talks a lot but there is sense in some of his words. How can Nigeria have a president who's not active or always on the inside. Is that how Obasanjo, Yar Asia and Jonathan ruled the country before Buhari came to power. The truth be told. If Buhari know he can't function any more. The best time is now for him to leave office and allow Osinbanjo to take over. Since he came back from London the office of the President is on slow motion.

  5. Fayose shud concerntrate on running Ekiti state, just like other govs are running theirs. He should leave Buhari alone. Buhari is not interested in d politics of other states, he is just doing d best for Nigeria.which is great. Unlike d past where Presidents want to have a say in what happens in others states politically, buhari is not interested in petty politics. He does not hold weekly meeting with governors like d past where governors spend almost d whole week in Abuja going nothing but wasting d resources of d states. Buhari encourages all of them to look inwards in their states and see how they can contribute to raising Nigeria. Ekiti is agriculturally endowed by fayose has not tapped into it bcos he wastes his time playing senseless politics and doing nothing. Ekiti has brains, food yet d people are hungry. Kebbi, ebonyi, anambra, Benue, northern states are all tapping into the agricultural potential. What is wrong with Ekiti? It should naturally be in d spotlight for d same purpose but it is not. He is just shameless, he should leave d president alone. He prayed for buhari to die before elections that failed. He prayed and said all.manner that d President was on life support when d president was I'll, it turned out to be fake and he was ashamed. Is he deaf? The president on returning from his medical vacation, said he needs more rest that people should reduce visits to him, to enable him recover wholly. What does he want? The important thing is that Buhari is running d nation well we are getting results everywhere.

    1. If I may ask you, how many times did you see Mr president performing official function since his return from long medical trip? Did u care to ask his whereabout? Or are you comfortable with the continuous indoor of the president? We need to see our president live performing official duties not usual "the president say this and dat"!

  7. Buhari is no no longer in charge as the President. People now take decisions and actions on his behalf. Whether we like it or not he is not capable, physically and mentally to handle the office. We should recall the reason Ex Pope Benedict resigned. Among others, he said he wouldn't want a situation where decisions would be taken on his behalf owing to incapacity of old age, some of such decisions he might not wish to have taken and would not be able to reverse.Buhari should better hand over to Osibanjo and resign. This is bitter truth, however, it must be told.

If the Whole SGF was asking "who is the presidency", it means the fellow we think is d president isn't the one plain and simple.

Not to hold brief for anyone, but at least ones in a while, we need to see our president. We need to know he is with us and for us. It's not to much to ask.
