APC to intervene in Senate, Ali face-off

The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday said it would intervene in the face-off between the Senate and Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service, Col. Hameed Ali (retd).

The party made this known in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, in Abuja.

The party said that it took the decision after observing the controversy that had trailed the invitation extended to Ali by the Senate and his appearance at the chamber on Thursday.

“We have watched the issues with growing concern and the expectations that they would be resolved in a manner that would be agreeable to all the parties involved.

“However, we wish to state that at this point, we have found it necessary to intervene.

“Accordingly, the APC National Chairman, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun will lead the party’s peace mission to the leadership of the National Assembly and the concerned party member,’’ the statement said.

It expressed confidence that its effort to broker peace would resolve the matter amicably.

  1. This is a sad moment for Nigeria and its populace. What are we even talking about? Is there any big deal wearing a uniform of the organization you belong to? In fact, it is a recognition and respect to the staff that you lead as the head. I suspect some foul play here. Perhaps the way and manner the senate made the request was downgrading, intimidating and insulting to him as a one time Army officer. But come to think of it, he should have honoured them in uniform and answer their questions with integrity. Now, he allows the senate to make him look like a stubborn and arrogant person indeed. To the senate, many of them are worse than this man in all manners and now they are trying to make this man look arrogant and disrespectful to the authority. Which authority of forgery? Be it academic certificate or senate guidelines or orders. You can imagine the latest news that says his agency (customs) seized an imported car that belonged to the senate president for non payment of customs duty fee. Can you imagine that? Very deceitful people. One day, something great and permanent will happen to the Nation (Amen). Nigerian youth, please wake up. These people will never make you smile. They are wicked.
