Police pleads with Tuface to shelve protest

The Nigeria police force has pleaded with Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, and other groups planning to protest to shelve their plans in the interest of peace and public order.

In a statement on Friday night, the police said they were in possession of “credible intelligence” that some other groups were planning a counter protest or marches between 5 February and 6 February.

The statement said this could lead to a breakdown of law and order.

“If these various planned protests/demonstrations are held as scheduled, that there may be breakdown of law and order, with attendant loss of lives and property”. the police said in the statement signed by Jimoh Moshood.

To demonstrate they were willing to employ any means necessary to keep the peace, the police said they were prepared “to employ every possible legal means for the maintenance of law and order; and for the protection of lives and property”.

“Consequently, members of the public, parents and guardians, religious/opinion leaders and other interest groups are strongly advised to prevail on their children and wards, followers and adherents not to allow themselves to be used by any group to cause disturbance of public peace and break down of law and order.”

The police statement appears to have countermanded the earlier position of Fatai Owoseni, commissioner in Lagos, who said the police and the musician have reached an amicable solution about the protests: that there would be a protest at a designated place, but no street march.

  1. The Nigerian Police force are shameless. So wait let me get this straight after work when you go home to your wife's and kids are you happy seeing that you can hardly afford something reasonable for them to eat or wear? Even that N50 can't save you people for what Nigeria is going through. Demmit you guys are brianless. How can you be begging for something that will benefit your kids and wife's? Oloshi. The evil in that shirt that black shirt has truely blinded you. You are all hopeless, ignorant blindsided, bloodthirsty , Hippocrates. May God have mercy on you. Fools.

    1. Mr man while complaining of hunger due to your inability to be productive but waiting for government, some people are being evacuated on every day basis to IDP camps across North East, all they need is shelter before food for now. Security is not a joke.
This government inherited a mess, big one for that matter. Go to North East I beg, if you will still protest against PMB.
If you are just protesting in the name of protest, I cannot be a party to that, but protest wisely by pointing out the government policy which brings the hardship and way forward.
This is a blank protest and the enemy of the government will highjack it and you don't blame the government for identifying such and dealt with it accordingly.

  2. JUST BEFORE YOU JOIN THE SENSELESS PROTEST, NOTE THAT!

Godswill Akpabio bankrolled the posh wedding of 2face Idibia in Dubai and also gave him 2 SUVs.

The Governor sponsored 29 people from Akwa Ibom state to accompany 2face to UAE for his wedding all from Akwa Ibom state treasury.

David Mark, the then PDP Senate President also bought 2face a Ferrari worth 47 Million naira. He benefited a lots of corrupt money from PDP, now the cheap money has ceased!

If he wants to lead a protest against the APC Federal Government, this is why!

He is a PDP SYMPATHISER! So Never be part of it.

Nigerians are just patient but not fools. When the time is ripe there will be no hiding place at all for the looters, greedy and corrupt politicians.

  3. Honestly, Tuface does not need going to the street protesting before passing his message. I quite agree with the above submission of umarjeff.

The late Fela did not go to the street to protest the ills of the society, yet he passed his message through his music and the whole world recognise him as a legend.

The planned protest by Tuface, if not properly handled, has the potential of heating the polity as hooligans can cash on it to loot property amidst other negative activities.

I would rather advise him to drop the idea and use his music to pass his message to the government.
