FG withholds Ekiti's January allocation, Fayose cries out

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose on Tuesday decried the withholding of the state’s allocation and the monthly Budget Support Fund due to the state for January by the Federal Government.

Fayose also accused Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, of incessant harassment of government contractors working in Ekiti State with a view to truncating ongoing projects.

He said the non-remittance of the money, made the State government to write a protest letter to the Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, adding that 10 days after the letter was sent, no response had come from the Minister.

Fayose who briefed newsmen at the Government House yesterday, lamented that the non-payment of the allocation was already affecting Ekiti State workers who have not received their monthly wages.

“In the last four weeks, Ekiti allocation and the budget support have not been released. Ekiti is the only state that has not been paid for the month of January.

“We have written to the Minister of Finance. My Commissioner was there. I have spoken to the Minister of Finance but nobody is ready to talk to us. The allocation and the budget support is our legitimate earning.

  1. Seriously? Who is minister of finance to think she's punishing the Governor but adversely punishing the poor people of a state? What kind of govt is this for crying out loud? Does she count herself among ministers? She is there and the whole economy is crumbling and yet she's suffering the whole state.
Well we are counting months and days for you people, this sufferings cannot continue like this. Yes, we know Fayose has a case to answer but for now, the law of the land protects him. Therefore, you can't inflict more sufferings on the people adding to the damages and hell we are going through in the country. A country where minimum wage is 18,000 and a bag of rice is 21,600. And these same wicked people go abroad to do shopping- Adeosun lived in the UK, ask her what she can use 10 Pounds to buy- with 20 pounds, ur kitchen is filled. is that what her govt gives us?

If you are chasing thief, must all the human beings you meet around the thief be manhandled and subjected to hunger?

    2. It's because you are not in this people's shoes now, that's why you sit down and type foolishly like this. If your father, uncles and aunties were in Ekiti state suffering without food, no money to school fees (January for that matter?) you would not have displayed this act of a typical scalawag here. Or what on earth would justify this act, tell me, what?

  3. When a governor is misusing allocations, the best treatment for him is to withhold it from him. Using the people as an excuse is untenable.
Eating "ponmo" along the road, riding "okada" and engaging in "stomach infrastructures" is never the best ways to utilize allocations.
Infact, in a sane society, the governor ought to be in jail by now with glaring evidences against him. Immunity my foot!
