The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, PFN, Thursday called for resignation of President Muhammadu Buhari, alleging that he is no longer fit to lead the country.
South South chapters of CAN and PFN, at a joint meeting in Warri, Delta State said the president’s silence on the killings of Christians in Northern Nigeria has become worrisome to the point where self help becomes the compelling option for Christians to protect themselves.
Briefing newsmen following a closed door meeting, Bishop Simeon Okah, National Vice President PFN (South-South), said, “Number one issue is this Fulani herdsmen in our bushes.
We are no longer going to fold our hands and watch while they kill our people.Some governors are saying they are not from the North. That claim is an insult to us. “Today our children are now being deported from America and here we have people from outside our country killing people and raping our daughters, mother and wives. Our farmers no longer have farmlands to farm.
I think it’s high time we started defending ourselves if the government cannot help us.” The economy is dying. When Jonathan handed over to Buhari, the exchange rate was between N170 to N190 to a dollar. Today, it is N550 to a dollar.
Imagine how things had gone bad? While the church will pray, if he (Buhari) cannot save the country, let him resign for the country to move to where God wants it to be.” The clergy also affirmed support for Apostle Johnson Suleiman over his recent alleged inflammatory statement which pitted him against Directorate of State Security, DSS, stressing that Suleman spoke the minds of Christians over the said comments.

Hmmmmmmm. We need a lot of HELP in this country of ours called Nigeria. Yes, I agree that some of these Pastors and Clergy may be corrupt or very corrupt or political or shameless but these qualities don't negative the truth that there should be no Nigetian oppressed in Nigeria, from the East to the West, and from the North to the South. The economy we are all witnessing may actually be the spill over of the past governments but it's a pity that now, those past governments are no more in charge and we can't keep referring to them all the time. When a community has any problem, it's the head that first gets the hit and sorry but that's how it goes. May be President Buhari may not be able to do something that may immediately affect the economy positively or turn it around but he is able to do something that will bring about the assurance of peace to all Nigerians especially the affected Christians, no matter who robs these Christians of their peace. Anything that takes away the peace of anyone is and should be tagged "TERRORISM." There is no thriving of economy whenever security is threatened. Terrorism is a threat to security and that may be one of the reasons why our Nigeria economy is nose driving. Either the threats of Boko Haram or the herdsmen, it's all the same terrorism. The President Buhari should have addressed the concerns of these Nigerian Christians long time before now because he was elected to lead Nigeria and not just the North. He was elected by all Nigerians and not just by Christians or Muslims and not just elected to take care of only the Northern problems nor the Southern problems but Nigeria problems. Is it a good thing for people to die in the North? No, not at all. We don't want anyone to die either in the North or South as a result of terrorism, war, sickness, or anything other than natural cause at OLD age. To make such an argument that "Are people not being killed in the North" is telling us to accept a sub-standard life for Nigerians and we refuse that. We should all be protected in Nigeria as Nigerians even every life in Nigeria either a citizen or foreigner in Nigeria should be safe and protected in Nigeria, that should be what we preach, it should be our watch word of all times. It's not about politics but about the truth, about righteousness, about what we Nigerians demand. I'm not for a gospel of killing people or death to my enemy, as a form of retaliation, no that's not my way but the President, Mr President, Mr Buhari needs to act and act fast for him to be a successful Nigerian President. Time is of essence for him. I'm one of those that love him and I want to see his presidency to be successful but for him to be, he must be truthful and non discriminatory in his judgement.
