President Buhari will not return on Sunday as scheduled due to medical advice

The President is ill but is recovering, Nigerians should please continue to pray for our president, and not spread death rumours

Exclusive reports reaching NigerianEye has it that President Muhammadu Buhari who is expected back in Nigeria on Sunday after his 10-day vacation in London will not return as scheduled.

A competent source in the presidency confirmed to NigerianEye on Sunday that the president received medical advice to remain in London while the results of some tests are being awaited

“Mr president is doing fine, and was ready to return to the country on Sunday as planned, but he was advised to run a few more medical tests which will mean, he will not be back on Sunday again” the source said.

The source continued 'As soon as the test results are out, Mr president will be back in Nigeria, Nigerians should please continue to pray for our president, and not spread death rumours, he is doing very fine, and he will be back soon'

What this means is that his doctors are still observing him and have not given him the go ahead to return.

Buhari had penultimate Thursday departed Nigeria for London for a 10-day vacation and was expected to resume work on Monday, February 6.

He had informed the lawmakers that Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo would be performing the duties of the President in acting capacity while he would be away.

This is the third time Buhari would embark on vacation in one year.

He had earlier embarked on a six-day vacation between February 5 and 10, 2016 in London.

He had also embarked on another 10-day vacation on June 6, 2016 to treat an ear infection.

  4. All the major faiths teach that we should be considerate of our neighbours particularly the sick. Our culture also teaches consideration to people in their time of weakness. We pray and wish Mr President well even as he recuperates. This is a time for calm. Just as we've had that sick colleague or family member of ours gone or down for a few weeks and we've had them in our thoughts, so have we chosen to have Mr. President in our thoughts. This is even so as there's no vacuum created by his recuperative trip. Let's get back to being humane and kind. Spread if you'd not be an agent of unkindness and harsh words for the ill.

  6. In as much as our president deserves care and medical considerations when needed, Nigerians also deserve to know the true state of his health. He went on leave and Nigerians were not told that he was ill. All of a sudden, the story changed from leave to rest and then to illness. Let this matter be treated with sincerity and openness. Things are hard for many people and they cannot continue to watch this hide and seek games.
