No one can force Buhari to speak from UK – Femi Adesina

The Presidency on Thursday insisted that despite the rumour making the round on President Muhammadu Buhari‘s state of health, the President is not ill.

The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, said this in an interview with CNBC Africa, which was monitored in Abuja.

Adesina insisted that Buhari is only in London, United Kingdom, for vacation and is not in any hospital.

He said, “The President is in London on vacation. He is not in any hospital and he is not ill.

“When he was travelling last week, the statement we put out was that he was going on vacation and during the vacation, he would do routine medical check-up and nothing has changed from what we pushed out last week.

“If anybody has fed something else into the rumour mill, that is just what it is — rumour.”

When asked if Buhari would be willing to talk to Nigerians from the UK, Adesina said such a decision could only be taken by the President himself.

The presidential aide said any attempt to compel Buhari to do so would amount to infringement on his rights.

“The fact that he is a President, he still has his rights. Compelling him to come out and talk will be infringing on his rights.

“The President will talk if he wishes to. If he doesn’t wish to, nobody will compel him to talk.

“The truth is that the President is on vacation and he has given a date on which he will return to work,’’ Adesina said.

  2. Why are we disturbing ourselves with the president health? is that the hardship or hunger that we are complaining that is every where? we have a able vice president who is a professor and the president handed over to him. Our concern here is what is the acting president doing presently now to better the life of many Nigerians who are hungry? death is inevitable, all of us we go one day but why are we peddling rumour about our president health? there is nothing that is hidden. we will all know the true state of things if the president is incapacitated, the acting president takes over simple.

  3. Thank u Ayodele, Nigerians talk about d president's health as if he is d only one with health challenge. Go to d hospital and see health condition. Argentina's former president had health issues. Nothing says if u are a president then u won't have health issue. It is even bcos buhari mentioned medical check-up, if he didn't ,nobody would know. Other former president's and their wives used to but they hide it and nobody knows. Buhari needs to learn to keep somethings to himself. Suddenly fake pastors are parading themselves everywhere talking about d president dying as if they own his life.all men are mortal and death inevitable, including that of such fake pastor whose member of his congregation is dying, he cannot save but more interested in rubbish. #westandwithpmb
