The League Management Company (LMC), has fined Abia Warriors N250,000 for the behaviour of their players, during their 0-1 loss to Remo Stars in their Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 3 fixture.
Remo won the match thanks to a late controversial penalty, which drew wild protests from the visitors.
It was the first defeat of the campaign for Okey Emordi’s team, after they won their first two games against Enugu Rangers and Katsina United.
The LMC says it was not happy with the behaviour of the players, who confronted the referee following the decision.
Abia Warriors have 48 hours within which they can appeal the verdict.
The LMC have also asked the Nigeria Football Federation referees committee to withdraw referee Dankano Abdullahi from future NPFL game, pending full investigation into his performance in the game.
