Governor Ajimobi’s daughter blasts protesting LAUTECH students - “Generation of Mannerless Students”

As reactions continue to trail the outburst of Governor Abiola Ajimobi at a protest organised by students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technolgy, LAUTECH, the governor’s daughter has gotten involved in the controversy.

Mr. Ajimobi’s daughter, Ajibola, labelled the protesting students “Generation of Mannerless Children” on her Instagram page.

“Generation of Mannerless children, they don’t respect their parents , how will they respect the Constitution” , the governor’s daughter said in apparent reaction to the students’ outburst on January 9.

Ajibola Ajimobi who got married last September is believed to be the second child to the Oyo governor.

LAUTECH students had on January 9 protested the continued closure of the university since June last year.

While addressing the protesting students, an angry Mr. Ajimobi told them to do their worst.

The Oyo governor, whose state jointly owns the university, miffed by the outbursts of the protesting students, said the closure of the university for over 7 months was no big deal.

“Your school being locked for eight months is no big deal. Is your school the first to be locked, if this is how you will come to talk to me, go and do your worst, I dare you,” he said.

Nigerians have continued to lampoon the governor since the video was released as Ajimobi continued to trend on spcial media on Sunday morning.

Reacting to the governor’s daughter’s statement ,the Senior Assistant to Mr. Ajimobi on Media, Yomi Olayinka, said the governor’s office is not aware of it.

“As the governor’s spokesman, I am not aware of this development and I cannot comment since I am not aware,” he said.

When asked what he feels about such comment even if he was not aware , he said, “Well, I will call Mrs. Ajibola to ask her what she meant by that, but for now I don’t want to speculate, so I can’t react to anything of such.”

LAUTECH has been shut since June 2016, due to the inability of Osun and Oyo states to meet their obligations financially to the institution.

  3. I have watched the referenced video and as someone who had passed through a Nigerian University, I see nothing wrong about the way the Governor addressed the rude, mannerless and uncouth students. It was hard to differentiate between area boys and some students of Nigerian institutions of higher learning these days. Even at worst situations, no civilized community should allow its children/younger generation talk back at a constituted authority like they did. The governor is not a lecturer or a VC for God's sake! So for some students to be teasing a governor as they did in that video leaves such a bad taste in one's mouth. If these ones are the generation we are grooming for our tomorrow, then we can safely conclude that Nigeria is a failed state. This is someone who has the final authority on the issue at hand, so if they have to abuse, tease or even kick their own fathers to get their school fees paid, they should realize that this is a state governor and not their failed parents.

    1. It is sad to read your comments and I am close to tears. But I will advise you because I don't want you and your generation to perish. Therefore, if you are a muslim recite astagifirulahi and ask the Almighty Allah for forgiveness. And if you are a Christian ask for forgiveness through the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now, I hope you can patiently read through my submission as I have patiently read through yours. First I commend the Governor for coming out to talk with the students, but he was lucky to remain alive. Remember the Governor asked few questions one of which was "are you a student" and students replied yes he is a student. Then the Governor, replied "omase" meaning a pity. Therefore, he also realised the struggling and poverty level of some of these students. I watched some of these students talk in the video, and I know your english or your pride is in no way better than theirs. But from the way you have sounded, it seems you are a callous human being and probably be worse than the Governor. Your character is that of a deceitful person. And I am very certain that you either don't have children/relatives who attend this University or you do have but have chosen to be a callous human being. I have posted this video link for you to see how Governor Ajumobi rubbished constituted authority in person of Governor Alao Akala.

From 4 to 7:00 minutes. But if you have time watch the whole episode.

When the Governor talked about constituted authority, I laughed. Who made him who he is today. The answer is "the people". Therefore, he should not be arrogant but more sarcastic in his attitude. I like some of his personality to an extent but sometimes he is arrogant. The personality I like about him is his sugar coated tongue.

Please find below his campaign promise(s):

I ask the Governor to assess himself based on his achievement in office. My question to the governor is have you performed as advertised? Thank you and God bless the republic of Nigeria.

    2. It's a pity a citizen of this country is sounding this way.who made the governor a constituted authority?...the people.he was voted to serve the people but in Nigeria it's the citizens that serve the elected.a school is been closed for 8months and both governors have done anything about it,yet u expect the students to be calm with him.if their kids are schooling in this country then they won't be so non-challant about these situations. Until the citizens start proving to these politicians that our votes really count then they can take us seriously. Wake up youths, wake up

  4. How would you understand the frustration the so called mannerless children of this generation are going through since you have never been in their shoes. For someone who has had all her tertiary education in the UK and is currently in Harvard law school. I sincerely doubt you have the requisite credentials to comment on nor delve into the issue.

I would thus advise you to stay clear off the issue coz it was monies meant to educate those mannerless children that went into training you.

  8. I could remember the time I was in UNILAG in 90's. Students abused the then Military Governor of Lagos State (Raji Rasaki) and the Governor did not utter a single word. Do you ppl realize hw wicked Nigerian leaders are. Hw can u closed down an Institution for a long time and u are comfortable as a leader. What of kind of Leader is that Governor of Oyo State. Remember that these Children pay School fees and the governor is burning the candle of these Children life both ends. Most Nigerian leaders Children attended University abroad with Nigerian money and they left the country impoverished. It is the governor that is manner-less if he cannot cannot control his emotion as a leader. Although the Students have their own fault, but the Governor should not embarrass himself publicly. I rest my case.

  9. Evidence of a child that does not have value for others. Your thieving father cannot meet the statutory needs of education but could meet the requirement of his godfathers like Tinubu and co. you should be ashamed and bury your head in your father's stupidity instead of coming out to display your foolishness.

  10. it gives me concern when i see a leader addressing his follower like this in an open ground, those people that voted for and you promise to take care of... and to crown it all, a spoil, brat daughter that suppose to call her father into order also tail her father rudeness... well "iru ru ni borun"... thank your star MR GOVENOR cos if it were to be my time in school you will have smell yourself by now with your so call tactic-less security for you to have said the student should bring the war on that you are ready...mtcwwwwwww.

  11. The Governor should learn from the outbursts of the students and a locate more funds to education and reform the sector to international standard otherwise the future of the country will be sorry,

  12. Complacency will kill APC. 'We know it all', 'without them we can do it'. Who dem be. A sitting governor, talking to next generation as if they worth nothing. Time will tell. Don't ever think that you can never need their help, they voted for you. You will still need their help. Office of governor is a public office and not your family, where you talk and dictate things at your will.

  13. I don't blame the governor or his daughter. Its because of the way things are run in Nigeria. The governor should be under fire by now if it's in an advanced country.
The idiot daughter of governor has no sense. She should take a queue from Malala, Obama's daughter.
