Buhari reacts to UNIMAID bomb explosion

President Muhammadu Buhari has strongly condemned the terrorist attack Monday morning at a mosque in the University of Maiduguri(UNIMAID).

A professor of veterinary medicine and four others were killed by the suicide bomber. Fifteen other people were injured.

The President expressed sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the University Community, families of the victims and the government and people of Borno State.

President Buhari Said the appalling attack on a revered place of worship and Ivory Tower shows that the perpetrators have no true understanding of Islam. He said their despicable acts of terrorism are cowardly, criminal, unjustifiable and punishable before God Almighty and the laws of the land.

The President reassured communities in Borno and others in the North eastern part of the country that his administration will continue to ensure that terrorism never triumphs over peace-loving Nigerians. He reaffirmed the need for Nigerians to remain more vigilant even as the security agencies continue to use all means at their disposal to combat the remnants of insurgents and their sponsors.

President Buhari wished those injured in the attack a speedy and full recovery, and comforted families of the dead.

  1. I sympathize with those lost their loved ones and I pray that God will continue to protects us. But it's so surprising that few minutes after the attack the president strongly condemned it. But scores have been killed in southern Kaduna just a stone throw from Abuja and the president couldn't utter a simple word of sympathy. In God we Trust and no weapon fashioned against his choosen will ever prosper.

  2. If this incident was somewhere else and Christians were involved, we would have heard cries of Islamization and Genocide by CAN. It is a mosque that has been bombed and no condemnation from the so called CAN, rather silence and no comment. We should always stand for the truth, justice and compassion in all we do no matter if our adversaries are affected. CAN should stop the hate preaching and incitement and coming to conclusion in a haste in such instances. No one is Islamatizing Nigeria and it is deliberate denial of the fact that Nigeria can not be islamatized. We all saw what former CAN president Ayo (Bling-Bling) Oritshejafor almost turned Nigerians against themselves in the run up to the 2015 Presidential election, but for the devine intervention of God it would have been a different story.
