'Stop diverting attention from leaked audio tape' - Youths tell Wike

A group, the Integrity Youths Alliance (IYA), has urged Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike to stop diverting attention from the leaked “rigging plan” audio tape and face the police probe.

Through its Secretary-General, Danjuma Lamido, yesterday in Port Harcourt, the state capital, the group urged Wike to own up to the threat to kill officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who might decline to rig the December 10 rerun in favour of the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), after collecting his “bribes”.

Last week in Abuja, Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris inaugurated the probe panel with one month to the members to submit the report.
But the governor said he and his allies would not appear before the panel.

IYA said: “Since an online news platform, Sahara Reporters, exposed Governor Nyesom Wike, he has been looking for ways to divert the attention of Nigerians and the international community from his threat to kill INEC officials.

“We are aware that Governor Wike’s paid agents have taken over the social media to blackmail the Transportation Minister, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and divert the attention of the security agencies from probing the leaked audio tape.”

The group also urged security agencies to investigate the killings in Rivers State during the legislative poll and bring the culprits to book.
It said this would serve as a deterrent to others.

  1. If there is anybody diverting attention of True Nigerians, it is the producer and sponsors of the audio tape. Since Sahara Reporters and Amachi were fingered in the production of the audio tape using the Koran technology, have you heard any further issues on the matter from the Nigerian Police?

  2. if the Governor refuses, then the police should be able to provide the INEC official the Governor called to testify and can also get tangible information from the network operator. it's very simple. we the followers must not be sentimental in all issues because of political differences. thank you.
