Senate did not reject Magu’s nomination – Ndume

The Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, on Monday said contrary to the information currently available to the public, the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly has not rejected the nomination of Mr. Ibrahim Magu as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

He said what the Senate had done was just to step down Magu’s screening until issues surrounding the security report concerning him are cleared.

He also said contrary to media reports, the Senate had not indicted the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal, of any wrongdoing.

He said Lawal’s investigation by the Senate was still work in progress.

Ndume spoke with State House correspondents shortly meeting President Muhammadu Buhari behind closed door at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

On Magu, he said what Senate will do is to clear from President Muhammadu Buhari whether it should go ahead with his approval process despite the security report.

  1. I hate people especially those referred to as honourable talking with two sides of their mouth. What are you defending in the case of these two individuals contrary to what clearly plays out in the Senate chamber?
The Senate president said it clearly that based on security reports, they will not confirm Mr Magu. Also that SGF should without delay resign his position and face prosecution. So Mr Ndume, what are you talking here?

  2. My brother great GC simply it implies that Ali Ndume is telling the citizens that we don't understand simple English or we are blind to see what is happening. I hate leaders like Ali Ndume who cannot stand by the truth shame APC.
