Police have withdrawn my Chief Security Officer- Wike cries out

Ahead of the legislative rerun in the Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Wike has raised the alarm that his Chief Security Officer has been withdrawn.

Wike said his CSO was withdrawn on Monday alongside several other policemen from Government House, Port Harcourt.

The governor added that the Police High Command on Monday effected the transfer of 500 senior and junior police officers from the state.

He spoke at Khana Local Government Area when he led the Peoples Democratic Party candidates to campaign at Babbe, Ken Khana and Nyor Khana districts.

Wike, who claimed that the police were partisan and plotting to compromise his security, added that he was looking up to God and the youths to protect him.

“Does the Inspector-General of Police vote in Rivers State? The APC can take the IG. For me, I will remain with the people,” Wike said.

He charged youths in areas where elections would hold to monitor the results from polling units to the collation centres, adding that they must resist anyone trying to smuggle in cooked results.

The governor declared Wednesday to Friday as fasting days for the December 10 the rerun elections would hold and urged the people of the state to use the three days to pray for peaceful and credible elections.

However, several calls to the State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, to react to the governor’s claim were not answered.

Also, a text message to his mobile phone was not replied as of the time of filing this report.

Reacting to the reported transfer of Wike’s CSO, the Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, called on the international community to intervene and protect the opposition parties in Nigeria from the oppression of the Federal Government.

The governor said the indices in the country had shown that the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration would go to any length to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.

Fayose said the withdrawal of the CSO and several other policemen, a few days before the December 10 rerun elections into the National and State Assemblies, had exposed the ulterior agenda of the Federal Government through the police authorities.

He said, “There is an election scheduled for this weekend and the Federal Government through the instrumentality of police transferred the Chief Security Officer of Governor Nyesom Wike, this is an indication that there is a game plan to suppress the opposition ahead of the election.

“It is becoming glaring that there is a possibility of his (Wike) life being threatened and the readiness of the APC to rig the election at all costs.

“It is unfortunate that the most populous black nation in the world is being run like this. Perhaps, those that brought President Muhammadu Buhari didn’t envisage these indices of an oppressed nation.”

  1. Wike, It is too early to cry. What man sows he reaps. Have you forgotten what happened to your predecessor - Amaechi in office between May and October 2013 when you were still in police force. I am neither Amaechi's fan nor his supporter but i support fair play and justice. Did you cry foul then? Instead you were happy, so enjoy whatever comes your way as the governor as those before you were also persecuted in this same way.

  2. Why are you complaining? Is it not too early to start complaining? You and Goodluck Jonathan and Patience did more than this to Amaechi. Are you just knowing now that what a man sows, he reaps. Just wait on, more are on the high way coming. Even those maimed and killed during and after the election will also come for their own pound of flesh. Ji si Ike.

  3. For every sincere Rivers indigene, Wike was never our choice, there was no free and fair election that brought him to office. It is hypocritical for one who came to power through electoral malpractice to begin to cry against malpractice now that his opponents has decided to block his sources of having his ways; he is crying wolf. When he and Patience Jonathan were using Mbu to oppress Amechi did he ever thought that what goes around comes around? you never start. You better drink more water to have more tears to cry. The Bible must be fulfilled in your life- "give and it shall be given unto you, good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over SHALL MEN (NOT GOD) give unto you. Except you repent.
