ONDO: Eyitayo Jegede urges supporters not to be discouraged

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in last Saturday’s election in Ondo State Eyitayo Jegede yesterday urged his supporters not to be discouraged.

He assured them of a better future.

The former Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice came second in the election won by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

The Akure lawyer spoke when he met supporters at his campaign office in Akure, the state capital.

He was accompanied by his running mate, John Ola Mafo, PDP chieftains Debo Ologunagba, Publicity Secretary Banji Okunomo, Coordinator of the Eyitayo Volunteer Group (EVG) Olumide Ogunkua, among others.

Jegede said the outcome of the election was not what was envisaged, going by his massive and unprecedented acceptability.

His words: “I’m proud to have won the people’s hearts. The meeting is just to encourage our people and thank them for their support and love.

“ It is to demonstrate that it is not only when you are pronounced winner that you appreciate God and the work of men. In all seasons, we must give glory to God.

“There is still a future for all of us, that is why we are here. Our supporters should remain steadfast as we are always ready to offer selfless service. We promise not to be far from them.”
