Gov Obiano promises workers free rice for Christmas

The Anambra state Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has assured civil servants in the state of free Christmas rice.

He also promised to pay them their 2016 annual leave allowance before the festivity.

He said there would be mass promotion of workers in the next year.

Obiano announced this on Sunday at Holy Trinity Parish, Awada, Onitsha.

He regretted that workers in the state had not enjoyed regular promotion, saying that arrangements had been concluded for the promotion exercise.

The governor said the initiative was part of his administration’s welfare package for workers in the state.

He said,” All the workers will receive their leave allowances as well as a bag of rice each for the Christmas”.

The governor assured the people of the state of a crime-free Yuletide.

He said, “We are committed to the fight against crime and criminality.

“More security personnel have been deployed to ensure safety of lives and property in the state especially in the coming Yuletide season.

“Anambra will remain first in promoting the welfare of her citizens.  Our stimulus package was aimed at ameliorating the sufferings of indigent people, especially in the present economic recession.”
